Kasauli
A quiet little hideaway in the Shivalik hills between Chandigarh and Shimla, Kasauli is a small cantonment and a town in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh.
A small settlement in the 17th century for Rajput families, Kasauli was discovered and developed by the British during 19th century, the impressions of whom are still distinguishable.
Kasauli is a beautiful and peaceful hill-station flocked by honeymooners and tourists when they are looking for some respite from the urban environs and want to have some quiet time by themselves.
The best thing about Kasauli is that there is practically nothing to do here. However its bracing, crisp air and refreshing climate compel you to go for long walks in the woods and capture & explore the picturesque surroundings and rich flora & fauna.

Easily accessible Kasauli is merely an hour long wonderful drive from Chandigarh on Kalka-Shimla road. Good roads add to the pleasure and if desired one can always take a stop at Timbertrail, Parwanoo, where one can enjoy a cable car ride to a beautifully located resort with endearing environs. The last stretch of the journey is a hilly but comfortable drive.
Once at Kasauli the welcoming and invigorating breeze engulfs one uplifting the spirit. A small market near the bus stand welcomes the visitors and suffices their needs during their stay. One can also buy woolens, shoes, toys etc. from here.
Close by is located a Heritage Market from where one can buy souvenirs and have a tea or snacks in small dhabas. A few colonial mansions stand tall and gracefully here and there in Kasauli as a gentle reminder of the past British era.
The amiable climate and pleasant fresh breeze of Kasauli tempts one to simply go around and explore the place & immerse in the beauty of the surrounding vistas. Amongst many others, Gilbert Trail is a long forest trail which offers a wonderful walk in the woods and leads one to enchanting views of the famous Manki Point and towns of Solan, Kalka, Panchkula and Chandigarh.
Kasauli has two malls, an Upper Mall and a Lower Mall. Lower Mall is graced with a spot which witnesses a heavenly sunrise each morning. Further ahead Lower mall leads to the popular Manki point.
On the Upper Mall is located the Kasauli Club. The Club is a cool place to be at, as besides the amazing view from its terrace, it offers fine dining and wining, library facilities, a cards room and kids’ play room, besides other facilities on a temporary membership basis.
Close to The Kasauli Club is another small restaurant. Ahead on the Upper mall is located the Sunset point which pulls lot many visitors in the evening.

Kasauli is believed to be one of the points where Lord Hanuman placed his foot while on his way to grab the ‘Sanjeevani Booti’ to revive Lakshman.
