Panch Badris, Badrinath

Badri Vishal

Badri Vishal is the main shrine popular as Badrinath Temple or Badrinath Dham.

Bhavishya Badri

The temple of Bhavishya Badri is located at Subain near Tapovan, around 17km east of Joshimath on Joshimath-Lata Malari road.

Bhavishya Badri, which literally means ‘Future Badri’ gets its name from a prediction that in future the route to present Badrinath Dham will become inaccessible and then Lord Badrinath will be worshipped here.

Yogdhyan Badri

The temple of Yogdhyan Badri is located 24km short of Badrinath at Pandukeshwar, a tiny sleepy hamlet which often goes unnoticed by most pilgrims. As the name indicates, the statue worshipped here is that of Lord Vishnu sitting in a meditative posture.

Vridha Badri

The temple of Vridha (old) or first Badri is situated 7 km short of Joshimath, at Animath. Believed to be the place where Lord Badrinath was worshipped before Adi Shankaracharya enthroned the main shrine at Badrinath.

Adi Badri

16 km from Karanprayag is the temple complex of Adi Badri. The temple complex consists of a cluster of 16 temples constructed during Gupta dynasty.
