Lakshman Jhula

A suspension bridge at the spot where Lord Rama’s younger brother Lakshman is believed to have crossed the Ganges using a jute rope.

Close to Lakshman Jhula is Lakshman Temple, the only one in India.

This is the ‘happening’ part of the town with lively bazaars and cafes around.

Ram Jhula

A suspension bridge with a number of tourist attractions around, Ram Jhula is also popular as Shivanand Jhula as it connects Shivanand Ashram to Swargashram.

Triveni ghat

A bathing ghat, where people take a holy dip before visiting temples.

Triveni ghat is the main ghat in Rishikesh where Maha-Ganga aarti is performed in morning and evening in full splendour.

Gita Bhawan

Situated close to Lakshman Jhula, Gita Bhawan is one of the oldest temple complexes in Rishikesh. The temple complex consists of various paintings and statues depicting stories from Hindu mythology.

Bharat Mandir

Situated in the heart of the town on the banks of Ganges, is an ancient temple which has been mentioned in the very old records of Kedarkhand (vide chapter 115 to 120).

The temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu and the inner canopy has a sacred ‘shree-yantra’ installed by Adiguru Shankaracharya.

Tryambakeshwar Temple

Close to Lakshman Jhula, is a beautiful temple, which is a rarity as it has statues of innumerable deities throughout its vast expanse.

Swargashram

Swargashram literally means ‘Heavenly abode’.

As the name connotes, Swargashram is a beautiful place situated in picturesque surroundings. Abode of hermits and saints, Swargashram is a cluster of various ashrams, caves and temples and is renowned for its simple and spiritual environment.

Parmarth Niketan

Known for its substantial work on Hinduism, Parmarth Niketan is one of the few ashrams in India where children are imparted knowledge of ancient Vedas.

Aarti performed in the evening on Parmarth Ghat is simply beautiful and an ethereal experience.

Aarti timings: 5 PM in winters and 6 PM in summers.
